MK Dons vs Wycombe Wanderers
Tuesday 5th October 2021 (KO 7:00pm)
Stadium MK
Referee: Christopher Pollard

It's another trip to Stadium MK tonight as the Chairboys take on MK Dons in the Papa John's Trophy group stage. Wycombe come into the fixture off the back of a 4-3 win at home against Morecambe, as a second half turnaround and goals from Daryl Horgan, Sam Vokes, Ryan Tafazolli and Curtis Thompson sealed all three points.

As for MK, they were on the receiving end of a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Doncaster Rovers, meaning they dropped below Wycombe in the table to sixth.

It's been less than two weeks since Wycombe last faced MK in League One, where a controverisal red card decision to Anthony Stewart proved decisive, as Troy Parrott's penalty was all that seperated the two sides. However after a successful appeal, Stewart had his suspension rescinded and was made available for the midweek tie with Shrewsbury.

As for the Papa John's Trophy last time out, Wycombe slipped to a 3-1 to defeat to Aston Villa U21s, where Connor Parsons bagged his debut goal, whilst MK beat Burton Albion 2-1.

Team news

Gareth Ainsworth will be without Daryl Horgan and Sullay Kaikai for this game, who have both been selected to represent their nations for the upcoming set of international fixtures.

Aside from that, there are no new injuries to report on, but Ainsworth has expressed that he will be excited to call on players from the development squad, meaning the likes of Anis Mehmeti, Olly Pendlebury and Chris Forino are likely to feature from the off.

MK manager Liam Manning is also eager to give minutes to his young players, as well as those in need of match fitness.

However they will be without the previous encounter's goalscorer Parrott, who has joined up with the Republic of Ireland squad with Horgan.

Christopher Pollard takes charge of this evening's tie.

The last time he refereed a Chairboys game was back in 2019, when Wycombe lost to Fulham U21s in the EFL Trophy. No cards were given out that evening.

This season, Pollard has only officiated one match so far - a tie between Forest Green Rovers and Northampton Town in the same competition.

Tickets are only available to buy on the night from Stadium MK. Prices for adults are £10, and £3 for U18s. These will be available from MK's Box Office.
