Hartlepool United vs Wycombe Wanderers
Saturday 6th November 2021 (KO 3pm)
Referee: Darren Drysdale
Wycombe make the long trip up to Hartlepool United for the First Round of the FA Cup on Saturday. Gareth Ainsworth's side will be looking to bounce back after Tuesday night's tough 4-1 loss against an Ipswich squad who are on the up in League One.
Saturday's opponents Hartlepool currently sit 10th in League Two with three wins and two losses from their last five matches. Their most recent result came in the Papa John's Trophy in the form of a 1-0 win over Everton U21s, while their last League Two encounter saw Leyton Orient put five in the net with no response.
Wycombe and Hartlepool are no strangers, having met 16 times before, but the Chairboys can look back on those encounters more positively than Pools, having won 10 and drawn 2.
With a big run of games coming up in the league, Ainsworth could look to make use of this year's squad depth in this opening FA Cup game. The Chairboys have no fresh injury concerns following the Ipswich Town game.
Hartlepool may also look to rotate their squad as they have been doing in the Papa John's Trophy. Tom Crawford and Martin Smith were particular standouts in the Everton fixture, despite being fringe players for the most of the ordinary season so far. Caretaker manager Antony Sweeney will not have Fela Olomola or Tyler Burey available in what seem like ongoing issues.
Tickets are available to be pre-purchase online or at Adams Park until 12pm on Friday, and can be purchased on the day at Hartlepool. We have been advised by Hartlepool United that if purchasing on the day, to arrive as early as possible, as the ticket office gets very busy. Please also note that there is a £1 price increase when buying at the ground.
Any tickets that have not been collected from Adams Park will be taken up to Hartlepool for collection there.
