Report: Women's Reserves hit great eight

Another high-scoring win for the Chairgirls.

8 November 2021

Another week, another win. The young Chairgirls overcame Aylesbury to continue their strong league form.

Having their game called off last weekend, the Chairgirls went into this weekend’s fixture still high in confidence after their 1-1 draw against the league leaders last time out.

Following instructions from the management, the girls went out hard and fast, making Aylesbury pay in just the third minute, when Striker Amelia Gilbert converted Sally Grimm’s cross. Looking to maintain the fast start, Wycombe saw a header from Gilbert saved and a shot from Grimm go just wide in the first 10 minutes.

Their lead was deservedly doubled on 15 minutes when a Amelia Gilbert lobbed the keeper from 15 yards out, having volleyed Emma Dean’s through ball.

Eve Savage got in on the action, heading in Emily Bamford’s 25-yard free kick on 21 minutes, a very meaningful goal with both players up against previous teammates!

Wycombe’s advantage was increased on 32 minutes, when a run from winger Naimh Creighton saw her pass two defenders before being brought down in the box. It was only right that she got up, dusted herself off and hit home the resulting penalty.

The next ten minutes was much the same as the previous 30, spectators seeing Grimm shoot high, a shot across goal by Jorja-Louise Bray evade both Creighton and midfielder Amy Norfolk, and another Creighton shot clear the cross bar.

The score was made 5-0 just before half time when Amy Norfolk ran on to a through ball and slotted calmly passed the Aylesbury keeper.

Half-time: Wycombe 5-0 Aylesbury

Determined to carry on their attacking football, Wycombe started the second half the stronger side, albeit a little more reserved. Registering their first shot on goal in the 55th minute, when striker Holly Carter shot straight at the keeper. A long-range effort from Aylesbury nearly caught out Wycombe keeper Lillie Eames in the 70th minute but having learnt from previous errors, she got back to knock the ball wide.

Winger Bray was determined to add her name on the scoresheet and after having a shot saved in the 75th minute she made the most of a through ball from defender Vikki Collett, two minutes later, slotting in at the second attempt.

Amelia Gilbert got her hat-trick goal on 80 minutes, converting a through ball from Rohanna Myers and added to her tally again two minutes later, shooting into the bottom corner after round the last defender.

The Chairgirls were ecstatic to see out the rest of the game and see their clean sheet remain intact.

Full-time: Wycombe 8-0 Aylesbury
