Wycombe Wanderers vs Barnsley
Wednesday 17th March 2021, k.o. 7pm GMT
Adams Park
Sky Bet Championship

Wycombe followed in the footsteps of Barnsley by achieving promotion to the Championship 12 months after the Tykes, and will be looking to take inspiration from the Yorkshire side once again as they bid to step up their battle against the drop.

Barnsley were nine points adrift with 14 games to go last season, and four points below the dotted line with only six left to play for, but pulled off the great escape with a last-gasp winner at Brentford on the final day, and may well have been considered relegation candidates again this season after a poor start, collecting just four points from the first seven games.

But what's followed since has been a remarkable transformation, with Valerien Ismael guiding his side to eight wins in their last nine, propelling them into sixth place, and their only defeats in 2021 have been to the current top three clubs.

Gareth Ainsworth's Wanderers are buoyant after a deserved victory over Preston at the weekend, narrowly closing the gap on the sides immediately above them in the table, and they'll hope that that confidence is translated into another stylish performance and much-needed victory under the Adams Park lights.
