The Chairboys were thrilled to receive photos from Wycombe Wanderers FC Kenya, who last week played their first game wearing our donation of kit.
A few months ago, fans of the Wycombe Wanderers Facebook group may have seen a post about a group of footballers in Kenya who were big fans of the club. As part of the WorldWide Wycombe Wanderers Phenomenon programme, the club reached out and sent a selection of Chairboys kit and footballs to Kenya for the team to use ahead of their new season.
Wycombe Wanderers FC Kenya played their first match in the 5 Star Tournament – Dennis Oliech Cup - unfortunately ending in a 2-0 defeat to Infinity FC but proudly wore the yellow away kit from our promotion winning campaign.
Mike Mwaniga Smith, goalkeeper of Wycombe Wanderers FC Kenya and representative of the club for this initiative stated, “We are so happy and grateful for the support Wycombe has given us to start playing in the league. The players are really looking forward to it and hope that one day we can face off against Wycombe Wanderers at the mighty Adams Park!”
The club is thrilled to have played a part in this amazing story and we wish Wycombe Wanderers FC Kenya all the best with their season. We will be checking in on them regularly and look forward to sharing updates with our fans.
