Sunday saw the launch of the first FIFA21 tournament on Wycombe’s brand new Esports Arena.
The online gaming community, developed by Rival, saw 75 eager gamers go up against each other for the chance to win a signed Adebayo Akinfenwa shirt.
Compatible with both PS4 and Xbox, the tournaments have progressed to leave four semi-finalists on the PlayStation competition, whilst eight quarter-finalists are left on Xbox.
“We’ve seen a huge amount of interest in the new eSports Arena and our fans seem to have really enjoyed the first tournament”, stated Harry Gadd, Global Marketing Executive. “It’s great to see the club taking it’s first steps into the world of eSports and I’m excited to see our partnership with Rival grow. We’re looking forward to introducing new tournaments and prizes in the future which will bring further enjoyment and improve our connection with fans around the world.”
The remaining games will be played next Sunday from 17:00 GMT, with the final of each tournament due to be screened on Wycombe Wanderers YouTube channel from around 17:30.
The biggest wins from Sundays action included Ttv-BlueQuarters romping to an 8-0 win on PlayStation, and xII Chronik IIx hit double figures whilst cruising to a 10-1 win.
New details will be released next week for upcoming tournaments - stay tuned and best of luck to all the finalists next Sunday!
