Former club and Trust director John Derben has written to Wanderers supporters to thank them for their kindness and generosity following the sad death of his beloved wife, Sandie, earlier this month.
To all the friends and supporters who have written to me on the loss of my beloved Sandie,
I have been overwhelmed by the volume of your responses and I cannot tell you what all the cards, letters, emails, tweets and telephone calls have meant to me.
I know Sandie would just not believe how much you all thought of her.
Thank you so much. I have felt surrounded by your kindness, love and support.
My thanks also to the football club, who have been wonderful, especially with the level of donations to Sandie’s favourite charity, which she helped to create and run for many years.
When we retired eight years ago, we left 70 clubs, 2000 members and 450 volunteers and it is still growing. Brendoncare Clubs was Sandie’s idea and she drove it into what it is today.
Sandie was always a volunteer in several organisations and the family plan a “Sandie Derben Celebration Day” sometime in June or July at WWFC. More details later.
The funeral is for family and very close friends as we are restricted on numbers. However, the service will be streamed on the 12th of March at 11am and an Order of Service will be sent out via the website.
My sincere thanks again to you all.
