A fantastic result for the young Chairgirls side.

The Women's Reserves travelled to Banbury on Sunday, snatching three vital points from league leaders Easington Sports Ladies.

Easington had come back from two nil down in the first encounter to narrowly win 3-2 at Wycombe, and Wycombe looked to get even this time around in the away fixture.

Wycombe were dealt a blow before a ball had been kicked with manager Lisa Starling missing the game due to self isolation. But, the Wycombe Wanderers Women Reserves are a resilient team with a strong bond, and they went out expecting to win.

The game was played on a pitch that had taken on a lot of water, and despite the conditions they started brightly, playing their passing football on a tacky surface, and were dominant in the first half. Wycombe were getting success down the wings on both sides, and on 30 minutes after another raid on the Easington goal, the ball arrived at Sally Grimm's feet on the right edge of the area and she rocketed in a right foot shot that gave the opposition keeper no chance.

Just as the first game had done, Easington came out in the 2nd half and upped their game. Wycombe had to concede some territory but continued to look very, very dangerous in attack.

In goal, Lillie Eames, who had had quite a quiet first half was called into action during the 2nd half to make a few regulation saves, which she made look easy. And she was instrumental in starting many brave 'passing out' sequences that regularly saw Wycombe move the ball from back to front to set up more dangerous attacks on the Easington goal, cheered on by the large Wycombe support.

Wycombe continued to look dangerous, but needed a 2nd as the half progressed. They thought they had it when, after another swift passing move, the ball came to skipper Emilie Bamford who delivered a pin point cross from the left edge of the box, and Amelia Gilbert arrived late at the fast post to volley in... A beautiful team goal that was ruled out for a marginal offside, which had Wycombe supporters rushing to get their VAR ruler and coloured pens out.

Wycombe didn't let up on their attacking intent though, with fullbacks Emma Dean and Vicki Collett overlapping on both flanks, and putting in dangerous crosses as the half progressed. And, on 70 minutes, another sweeping move resulted in the ball arriving at the feet of the increasingly dangerous Sally Grimm, this time on the inverted wing. Sally cut inside and produced another unstoppable shot from the edge of the area that scorched the back of the net to make it 2-0 Wycombe.

This time, Wycombe weren't to be denied their victory as they kept their 'out of possession' shape well, made some excellent tackles, and stood up strong to manage any Easington threat and to see out the 2-0 win.
