Cambridge game postponed

Boxing Day game cancelled due to a number of positive COVID-19 cases in the Cambridge squad.

22 December 2021

Wycombe Wanderers’ forthcoming Sky Bet League One fixture against Cambridge United (Sunday 26th December) has been postponed.

Cambridge United informed the EFL that it would be unable to fulfil the fixture at Adams Park due to a number of positive COVID-19 cases in their squad.

In light of the increased transmission rate of the Omicron variant, the EFL will now review the circumstances surrounding the postponement.  In addition it will assist affected Clubs throughout this challenging period to help them mitigate against the risk of infection amongst players and staff, while ensuring their obligations to the EFL regulations are maintained.

A rearranged date for the fixture will be confirmed in due course. All tickets will remain valid for the new date; refunds can be arranged by emailing with the transaction number and the number of tickets to be refunded. Refunds will be processed within 14 working days from January 4th.

Gareth Ainsworth said: "It's a real shame that we've lost this game - and the Bolton one - due to Covid cases in the opposition squads, but these things happen and we wish all players affected a speedy recovery.

"We've been fortunate to largely keep Covid at bay from our squad, and I have to give great credit to our medical team for managing the protocols to make sure that we were ready and raring to go. We'll keep working hard in training for the next game and to keep our strong season on track."
