Boxing Day food donated to One Can Trust

Will Shaw delivers food parcels to local food bank.

Wycombe Wanderers have donated its food delivery for the now-postponed Boxing Day fixture against Cambridge United to the One Can Trust food bank in High Wycombe.

The game at Adams Park was called off on Wednesday due to positive Covid-19 cases in the Cambridge squad, leaving chef Will Shaw and his team with plenty of food that would otherwise have gone to waste.

Will made a visit to the One Can Trust foodbank in town to drop off packaged and tinned food items, and will also be sending fresh food items to the local fire service, who'll be on duty all throughout the Christmas period.

Will said: "It's a massive shame for many reasons that the game on Boxing Day has been postponed, and we couldn't let the food go to waste, so we were more than happy to donate the food to One Can Trust, who do unbelievable work in helping so many local families, particularly at this time of year.

"We've also - regrettably - had to return a lot of beer to the Rebellion Brewery in Marlow, and I'd like to say a massive thank you to them for their understanding and help. We're lucky to have so many local partners who look out for each other and it's greatly appreciated."

Meanwhile, manager Gareth Ainsworth - an ambassador for One Can Trust - has delivered a video message thanking the charity's army of volunteers for their incredible work throughout 2021.
