Wanderers' women's under-18s earned a creditable point with a 1-1 draw against league leaders Charlbury at the weekend.
After three comprehensive wins, Wycombe went into the game confident but under no illusions that it was going to be an easy game against unbeaten Charlbury.
With a slightly different line up, the girls started strong and fast with Kiyanna Fryer driving forward and shooting at the edge of the box from between two defenders putting Wycombe 1-0 up after only three minutes.
The final 20 minutes of the first half were a tougher test with Wycombe struggling with the sun in their eyes and had keeper Amy Whale to thank for a fantastic save to her left keeping their lead intact. Unfortunately the girls failed to deal with a ball through the centre on 38 minutes which bounced awkwardly and into the back of the net over the head of Whale.
The second half was a lot tougher in what proved to be their most physical battle yet but Wycombe dealt well with numerous strong challenges and were denied a further lead when Amelia Gilbert's shot went just wide of the post on 65 minutes.
A further impressive save from Whale late on in the game ensured Wycombe came away from top of the league with a very well deserved point.
