Gareth brings Garath to Adams Park

Exciting attacking player signs on free transfer.

4 November 2020

Wycombe Wanderers have completed the signing of exciting attacking player Garath McCleary, who joins the club on a free transfer.

The former Nottingham Forest and Reading man has trained with the Blues for the past week and put pen to paper this morning on a deal which keeps him at Adams Park for the rest of the season.

Capped 24 times by Jamaica, McCleary started his career in non-league with Oxford City, Slough Town and Bromley and went on to play in the top-flight for the Royals, with whom he spent eight years before departing this summer.

Manager Gareth Ainsworth said: “Garath has terrific experience playing at this level and I’m delighted to bring him here to give us another option going forward. He’s very quick and direct and will suit the way we play.

“He’s been without a club since the summer but kept himself fit and sharp so we hope to be able to bring him into a matchday squad very soon and I’m looking forward to seeing him in action.”
