Gareth Ainsworth has brought goalkeeper David Stockdale back to Adams Park on a loan deal until the end of the season to provide competition for Ryan Allsop.
Wanderers’ second-choice keeper Cameron Yates sustained an injury in training earlier this month which has prompted Ainsworth to secure a move for 34-year-old Stockdale, who enjoyed a two-game loan stint with the Blues last season.
Ainsworth said: “David made a big impression on us last season, on and off the pitch, and we’re really pleased to have him back to strengthen the goalkeeping department.
“Ryan has had a very good season so far, and played a big part in us reaching where we are in the table, and we want to be sure of having the strongest squad possible for the run-in.”
Stockdale returns to Wycombe from Birmingham City, who he joined in 2017 after leaving Brighton, where he had earned a place in the PFA Championship Team of the Year by helping the Seagulls achieve promotion to the Premier League.
The former Fulham youngster starred in Wanderers’ victories over Shrewsbury and Accrington last season after signing an emergency loan deal to cover for Allsop, who had sustained an injury in training.
