Down Memory Lane: First 10 years of WWEPA

John D Taylor celebrates a decade of this proud organisation.

28 August 2020

Since 2009, Wycombe Wanderers’ thriving Ex-Players’ Association has celebrated major events in the club’s 133-year history. Appropriate then that in the year the Blues’ reached Wembley again to achieve their greatest-ever feat – promotion to the Championship – our latest Memory Lane video features previous milestone events WWEPA have relived at annual dinners in their first decade.

All that kicked off with Sid Cann’s 1957 FA Amateur Cup heroes being honoured. We remember Paul Lambert’s 2007 League Cup semi-final heroes and Lawrie Sanchez’s men who battled to within one step of the FA Cup Final in 2001. Martin O’Neill’s 90s stars make an appearance. And there’s stories from every era as WWEPA celebrated their members’ successes which helped make the club what it is today.

Via the club’s YouTube Channel, also catch up on some previous Glory Days. And over the next few months, we’ll be highlighting some other of the club’s great moments and greatest characters.

Coming soon……

  • Bodger & Mask. An affectionate reminder of two of the club’s great names of the 1960s & 70s - Tony Horseman, scorer of an unbelievable 558 goals in 939 matches and teammate John Maskell who kept them out at the other end in a 16-year career as first choice goalkeeper.
  • Loakes Park Life – an in-depth history of the club’s 90 years at their famous old ground. Spot the faces from the Frank Adams & Reggie Boreham to Dave Carroll & Keith Ryan.
