Scott Kashket netted the winner as Wanderers overcame Brentford B in a behind-closed-doors game at the Bees’ training ground on Tuesday afternoon, with Sido Jombati and Curtis Thompson making their return from injuries.
Rolando Aarons made his first appearance in Wycombe colours and won a penalty early on, converted by Josh Parker, before Jonny Mitchell levelled the scores soon after with a glancing header from a corner.
Kashket, who scored twice against Southend in League 1 10 days earlier, found the net again in the second period, rounding the keeper and tapping home to secure the win.
Jamie Mascoll fired narrowly wide from distance and Parker missed the target after excellent play on the edge of the box, while for the hosts, Arthur Read went close and Tom Field was denied by Cameron Yates before the interval.
After the break, Alex Samuel had a goal disallowed and Alex Pattison hit the post at the end of a darting run, while Wanderers’ trialist defender headed over from Nick Freeman’s cross before Kashket made it 2-1 on 71 minutes.
Mascoll denied Tue Jensen in the box before Yates made a fine save to keep out a late effort to preserve the win in the closing stages.
Wycombe: Yates, Jombati, Trialist, Phillips, Mascoll, Thompson (Ofoborh 45), Gardiner-Smith, Pattison (Freeman 60), Parker, Samuel (Kashket 60), Aarons (Trialist 45).
