Pompey win attracts bumper crowd

7,688 is third highest crowd for a regular league game at Adams Park during Gareth Ainsworth's tenure as manager.

Adams Park welcomed its third largest crowd for a regular home league game during Gareth Ainsworth's seven years in charge on Saturday afternoon.

An attendance of 7,688 - bolstered by 2,125 Pompey fans - watched Wanderers record a 1-0 victory thanks to Adebayo Akinfenwa's second-half penalty; the third occasion that the club has attracted a crowd of over 7,000 in the past 18 months.

The promotion celebrations against Stevenage in May 2018 brought 8,802 fans to Adams Park (240 away supporters), with 8,442 arriving in March for the visit of Sunderland (who had 2,723 of their own fans in the ground).
