The Chairgirls under 18s were left disappointed as two quickfire second half goals secured a 2-0 win for Moretonville Juniors, just as Wycombe were starting to turn the screw and push for the winner themselves.
A wet and windy Saturday morning at the ASM Stadium meant for tough conditions in a first with very few chances for either side, Kiyana Fryer asking a couple questions of the Moretonville goalkeeper and Wycombe holding resolute at the back, Sarah Timmins at her commanding best.
A switch in the Blues midfield at the start of the second half offered the chance for Bridget Harrington and Kate Davis to combine numerous times on the Wycombe left, threatening to break the deadlock on more than one occasion before Milly Crombie's audacious effort from all of 35 yards very nearly caught the away keeper off her line.
The Chairgirls have the opportunity to make up for the loss quickly, as Barton United are the visitors to the ASM Stadium next Saturday, the 5th October. The game kicks off at 9:30am.
