Adam El-Abd has penned a farewell note to Wanderers fans after leaving the club on Monday by mutual consent:
I’m extremely proud to have played for Wycombe Wanderers and been given the honour to wear the captain’s armband during such a successful time for the club, firstly achieving promotion and reaching the target of surviving in the division last year.
From the moment I walked into the club I was made to feel welcome and I knew straightaway this was a place I would enjoy my football, and I was proved right. The staff were first-class with me, the gaffer showed great belief in my ability and what I could bring to the club, and the changing room was one of the best environments I’ve had the pleasure to be part of. The lads have this fantastic togetherness and work ethic which played such a big part in what we’ve managed to achieve.
I’ll always keep an eye out for results and hope to come back to watch games at Adams Park with my boys in the future, and I have no doubt that the club is in good hands and heading in the right direction.
Thanks for everything,
