Jack Grimmer has become Wycombe Wanderers’ third signing of the summer, penning a two-year deal at Adams Park following a successful trial.
The defender was a key part of the Coventry City squad that won promotion from League 2 in 2018, scoring in the play-off final at Wembley and earning a place in the PFA League 2 Team of the Year that season.
He left Coventry at the end of his contract this summer and linked up with the Chairboys for the friendlies with Woking and Brentford, earning a permanent deal to keep him with the club until 2021.
Boss Gareth Ainsworth said: “Jack is an excellent defender who can play in a number of different positions and that will be invaluable for us going into the new season.
“He’s got a good amount of experience behind him and he really caught the eye during that year with Coventry when I think he was one of the best defenders in the league, so it’s a great signing for us and I know he’ll strengthen our defensive options.”
Grimmer, 25, started out at his hometown club Aberdeen and went on to represent his country at all youth levels, moving to Fulham in 2012 and gaining experience on loan at Port Vale and Shrewsbury, as well as featuring 13 times in the Championship for his parent club.
He returned to Shrewsbury for two more loan spells before switching to Coventry in 2017, starring in his debut year before finding his opportunities limited last season.
Jack underwent his medical assessment at the club’s medical partner BMI The Chiltern Hospital on Monday and will wear squad number 19 for the Blues.
