Report: Wycombe 1-1 Reading (2-4 on penalties)

Championship club squeeze into round two after a penalty shooto

13 August 2019

Wanderers suffered a cruel exit from the Carabao Cup, losing 4-2 on penalties against Championship club Reading in the first round tie at Adams Park on Tuesday night.

After a goalless first half, Alex Samuel broke the deadlock with a glancing header from debutant Josh Parker's corner, but George Puscas levelled at the second attempt after his initial effort was blocked by Ryan Allsop.

The Royals were successful with all four of their spot-kicks, but Nick Freeman and Fred Onyedinma were denied by Rafael Cabral to ensure it's the Berkshire club who take their place in round two.
