Darius Charles is a Wycombe Wanderers player again, penning an initial short-term deal to rejoin the club until January.
The former Stevenage and AFC Wimbledon defender arrived at Adams Park last summer but his playing opportunities were limited to just seven appearances due to an ongoing hip problem, which led to his departure from Adams Park at the end of his contract.
However, the 31-year-old was invited back to join the squad for pre-season training and has successfully built up match fitness, providing boss Gareth Ainsworth with another option in his backline.
“However, he’s shown immense strength of character to come through it, and worked incredibly hard to go through his rehab and get himself fit. He played in a couple of friendlies and came through them unscathed, and I’m delighted that he has this opportunity now to prolong his career and show people what a talented defender he really is.
“Someone with that kind of character is one I want in my changing room, and the boys love having him as part of the squad. Huge credit has to go to my physio Cian O’Doherty and sports scientist Dave Wates for helping Darius through his injury and I’m sure we’ll now get to see the rewards on the pitch.”
Darius will wear squad number 21, as he did last season.
