Gareth Ainsworth is looking forward to taking his side to The Valley this weekend as Wanderers prepare to take on Charlton Athletic.
The Chairboys travel to South East London to face The Addicks who sit two points and six places above them prior to the fixture, having appointed Lee Bowyer as their permanent manager this week after a spell in caretaker charge.
Coming up against a club with a rich history, in a big stadium with a large away following is a prospect that motivates Ainsworth and his players, and with Blues five unbeaten in all competitions, they will be looking to continue their recent form on Saturday afternoon.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, the manager said: “I think Charlton are a very good side.
“Lee Bowyer has got the job on a permanent basis this week and rightly so, he’s done a great job and signed some very good players.
“Charlton are a huge club for us to go to and we are hoping we can come away with something. They are an ex-Premier League club who are known for higher things than where they are at the moment.
“We’ve been looking at them closely and areas where we feel we can break them down and anything from this game would be a fantastic result for us, but we are going for the three points as always and we’ll see if we can get them.
“Going to stadiums like The Valley with the Wycombe fans right behind us is why we fought so hard to get promoted. This is one of some very tough games coming up for us and we’re looking forward to getting our teeth into it and enjoy the ride.”
