Gareth Ainsworth wants his side to build on their performance vs Burton as they prepare to head to the Ricoh Arena to take on Coventry City on Saturday.
Wanderers head to the home of the Sky Blues full of confidence after notching their second win of the campaign last weekend and boast a record of scoring in all but one of their last 15 fixtures in all competitions.
With that in mind and with striker Adebayo Akinfenwa currently in fine form with four goals in as many games, Ainsworth is hoping for a change of fortunes against the Sky Blues which has seen them win just once in seven competitive meetings.
Speaking to the press on Thursday morning, the manager said: “We’re hoping to build on that Burton win in a game where I thought our performance and the resilience we showed was superb.
“That win was coming and we deserved it that day and we’ve been looking to use the positives from that game as we prepare for Coventry.
“They are a good footballing side who I think played the best football in League Two last season and it didn’t surprise me at all to see them join us in League One via the play-offs.
“They got the better of us twice in two tight games last season and we know we don’t have the best record against them but we will be looking to change that this weekend.
“Our performances have been good of late and we were pleased to get three points last week, but one swallow doesn’t make a summer and we know we will have to be at our best again to come away with a result.
“I’m confident that if we keep progressing as we are that the results will continue to come and we will go on a run, and we’ll be ready to give everything at the Ricoh on Saturday.”
