Gareth Ainsworth is hoping for a better display in the final third this weekend as his side prepare to welcome Scunthorpe United to Adams Park.
Wanderers head into the game looking to make it back-to-back wins on home turf, whilst also looking to react from the defeat at Coventry City last time out.
Although the loss at the Ricoh Arena was largely a solid performance defensively from the Chairboys until a late Conor Chaplin header settled the encounter, Ainsworth admitted Wanderers lacked a cutting edge going forward.
Looking to recapture the attacking flair from his squad which saw them put Burton Albion to the sword a fortnight ago, the boss said he can’t wait to get stuck into two home fixtures inside four days, with Rochdale coming to town on Tuesday evening in Sky Bet League One.
Speaking to the press on Thursday morning, Ainsworth said: “The aim on Saturday is to pick up our second home win in the league after a slight blip at Coventry last weekend.
“I thought we defended really well in that one, we just didn’t have enough going forward if I am being honest, and that has been addressed in training this week."
When asked about team selection, the manager added: “We’ve got two home games coming up thick and fast and there are going to be plenty of opportunities for all these forwards that we’ve got to stake a claim to feature.
“I want them to take that opportunity as they have got a lot to offer the club and I’m sure whoever is selected over these next two games will be champing at the bit when they are given the chance.
“So again I’ve got good selection problems ahead of this one in the time of the season where you are usually struggling for numbers, and I’ve also got some important players close to making a return which is great.
“We’re looking forward to getting our teeth stuck into both these next two home games and I’m sure we’ll have a noisy crowd backing us all the way.”
