1887 Business Club launches in style

First event sponsored by Utilita Energy.

24 October 2018

Wycombe Wanderers’ brand new 1887 Business Club was launched in style on Tuesday night, with more than 30 companies enjoying a special event hosted by Utilita Energy ahead of the Chairboys’ fantastic 3-0 victory over Rochdale at Adams Park.

Aimed at connecting local and national sponsors of the football club, the 1887 Business Club welcomes decision-makers from the High Wycombe business community – and further afield – to learn more about the club’s commercial offerings, make new contacts and benefit from invites to networking events, preferential rates on partnerships with the club, and match ticket promotions for employees.

The launch event in the Honours Lounge on Tuesday night was hosted by renowned sports broadcaster Gary Newbon on behalf of Utilita, the club’s official energy supplier and front of change shirt sponsor, who presented their success story of partnering with the Chairboys.

Guests also had the opportunity to enjoy a pre-match Q&A with Blues boss Gareth Ainsworth, the post-match Man of the Match presentation, as well as a buffet, drinks and tickets to the thrilling 3-0 win.

Wanderers’ general manager Michael Davies said: “The launch event was a fantastic success for us and it was great to see so many representatives from various businesses all getting to know each other and sharing ideas for potential partnerships.

“I’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone who came along, and particularly to Utilita for sponsoring our first event and delivering an informative and engaging presentation about why their relationship with us has been extremely beneficial for both parties.

“We’re looking forward to building on this by confirming arrangements for our second event, which we hope will be even bigger and better with more companies able to join us, and if it’s based around a matchday then a similar result would be great too!”

Jem Maidment, Director of Marketing and Communications said: “It was a privilege for us to put our name to the inaugural 1887 Business Club event and we really enjoyed being able to meet the various sponsors who – like us – are benefitting from a partnership with Wycombe Wanderers.

“It’s a fantastic football club with some great people working very hard behind the scenes, and as we saw, the players on the pitch are doing a phenomenal job in giving their local community a team to be proud of.

“We’d like to thank Michael and his team for having us and very much look forward to being part of more 1887 Business Club events in the future.”
