Gareth Ainsworth has strengthened his backroom staff ahead of the new season with the appointment of Andy Fairman as the club’s new goalkeeping coach.
Fairman arrives at Adams Park having worked most recently within Everton’s under-21 setup, following spells with Rochdale, Preston North End, Blackpool and Wigan Athletic.
An experienced UEFA A Licence goalkeeper coach, Fairman takes up his post with the Wanderers ahead of the players’ return to training on Thursday, working alongside keepers Ryan Allsop and Yves Ma-Kalambay.
Ainsworth said: “We’ve taken our time to make the right appointment since Barry Richardson left the club a few months ago, and I’m delighted to be able to bring someone of Andy’s calibre to the club.
“Andy’s played a huge part in developing the careers of some fantastic goalkeepers and he comes highly recommended from Roberto Martinez, who is a good friend of mine and employed Andy at both Wigan and Everton.
“With two very talented keepers on our books, and an excellent coach to work with them, we’re looking very strong in that department and I know Andy will be a big help to us in other areas of our operation as well.”
