Gareth Ainsworth was delighted to see his team register their first home win of the season and continue their fine start to the campaign with a 3-1 win over Forest Green Rovers.
An outstanding first-half display set the Chairboys on their way to claiming all three points in first ever EFL meeting with Forest Green Rovers.
Paris Cowan-Hall struck first with a crisp low shot before Anthony Stewart and Luke O’Nien continued the barnstorming start to the match to put Wanderers out of sight.
Christian Doidge converted from close range midway through the second period to give Rovers hope, but the result never looked in doubt as Wycombe made it three league wins from five played.
Gareth, speaking after the match, was proud of the way his team went about their business on Saturday.
"I'm really pleased, I thought in the first half we were exceptional going forward.
"We had a game plan and I thought it was executed superbly by the players, we knew what to expect as Forest Green are a good team who try and play it out from the back but we stepped up and played on the front foot with a structure to allow us to do that.
"We've worked hard on the defending players to allows us to have that platform for the forward players to go and do their stuff and they did their job really well.
"We scored three good goals with some good play as well and it was good to see and the confidence in the boys is thriving now.
"We now have to regroup, be professional and make sure everyone is fit going into next weekend (vs Newport County, A).
"I'm really proud of the efforts today, it was phenomenal shift from all of them and that is what we need to do to get results,
"There are great characters in that dressing room which will be important this season, as will the fans and I thought they were great today as they stuck with us right until the end and I'm delighted we got our first home win."
