Wycombe Wanderers were delighted to receive an email of thanks from the parent of a mascot at Saturday’s game versus Exeter City.
Mark Talbot’s son Ewan was one of five mascots to enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour and meet the players, warm up on the pitch and walk out with the team ahead of kick-off.
Writing to the Sports & Education Trust, Mark said:
“Just a short note to say thank you to you and all the staff, players and manager for a fantastic match day mascot experience on Saturday the 14th October (Wycombe vs Exeter).
My son Ewan was ‘blown away’ by having the opportunity to see behind the scenes, meet players and the manager before being able to warm up and walk out on the pitch.
Special thanks should go to Elaine and her colleague who showed us all around and organised the signings and photos. Also pass on thanks to the two guys who met us and showed us through to the bar / lounge on arrival.
Please thank Manager Gareth Ainsworth for taking time out on a match day to speak with all the children and do a proper Q&A. A real gentleman and true professional.
From the playing staff please thank the following who did pre match signings and photos in the dressing room:
Also thank Craig Mackail-Smith for walking out with Ewan and chatting to him in the tunnel. Ewan was quite nervous. Craig was a great player and ambassador for my home town team Peterborough United and continues in the same way at Wycombe.
Also thank the mighty Adebayo Akinfenwa for the photo call which must become arduous at times especially when you are all warming up! The beat box ‘Happy Birthday’ was enjoyed by all too!
I write this because I work in a profession where thanks are few and far between and I know a little thanks goes a long way. The club were a credit to themselves and the community on Saturday and show children like my son that football is about more than what goes on on the pitch and that there is important work done outside of the game’s top tier.
Once again thank you all for making us feel welcome and giving Ewan a day he will never forget."
