Gareth Ainsworth says he wants his players to come flying out of the traps tomorrow against Crawley Town.
The Wycombe manager welcomes Harry Kewell’s Reds to Adams Park and is hoping to start this one how his team finished their last game at Morecambe, when they almost clawed back a two goal deficit after a disappointing first 45 minutes.
Ainsworth is expecting another stern challenge standing in their way, but is confident that with a strong performance from his team, they can come away with a result from this one.
“We want to start the game on Saturday how we finished it at Morecambe - which was all guns blazing and threatening their goal,” he said.
“Harry Kewell is a good manager who has cut his teeth at under-23 level and has now come in for his first season in first team football and is doing a good job, and has had some great scalps this season.
“We’ve watched Crawley, and we’ve looked at what their weaknesses are, what our strengths can be and obviously what their strengths are to watch out for.
“It’s a game we won’t be taking lightly, and we know we will have to be on our game to get anything out it.
“We must be consistently performing at a high level if we want to stay inside the top seven; keep creating the chances and keep solid at the back, and hopefully we should be in for a good game on Saturday.
“We’ve been working very hard on the training ground this week, and will be working equally as hard on the pitch come 3pm on Saturday to make sure we come away with all three points.”
