Chairboys feature in official #CupStory fan film

30 May 2017

The FA is thrilled to reveal a social media crowdsourced film created in collaboration with Game of Thrones star Raleigh Ritchie is now out.

The #CupStory film – consisting purely of clips shared on social media using the hashtag - follows fans during the twists and turns of the journey from the First Round to the Final in this season’s Emirates FA Cup.

Sutton United, Lincoln City and Arsenal were among the big stories from on the pitch this year, but the film shows the stories fans go on across the world when they watch their team play in The Emirates FA Cup.

UK rock band Royal Blood provide the soundtrack with their smash hit ‘Where Are You Now’ with the film showing all elements of the match day experience.

We see fans travelling to games in cars, trains and planes; supporters on the other side of the world waking up in the middle of the night to watch their team play, fans celebrating victory and defeat in Singapore and Dubai, the sheer jubilation fans feel in stadiums across the country as their team scores, and of course, the heartbreak felt by fans as their team is knocked out of the oldest cup competition in the world football.

The FA commissioned Raleigh Ritchie to create the film with a clear brief to demonstrate that every game in The Emirates FA Cup truly is an adventure and every fan has their own unique story to tell.

Game of Thrones star, musician and up-and-coming director Raleigh Ritchie produced the final film and is thrilled with how it looks; “The Emirates FA Cup is a special tournament for the fans. We had some amazing stories on the pitch this year from the likes of Sutton United and Lincoln City, but the fan story is often left untold. I’m thrilled that we are able to share a film with the world that showcases that fans make The Emirates FA Cup the greatest cup competition in the world.”

Lucy Roberts-Hartley, Senior Brand Manager for The Emirates FA Cup said, “We commissioned Raleigh to produce this film ahead of the First Round as we wanted to see the adventure fans go on wherever they watch The Emirates FA Cup. The stories that come through in the film are fantastic, and really encapsulate the emotions that the competition generates throughout the season.”
