Gareth Ainsworth says he and his players won't dwell on the loss at Stevenage as they look to return to winning ways at Crewe on Tuesday night. The Blues boss lamented his side's worst performance of the season at the Lamex Stadium on Saturday but was quick to focus on the opportunity to return to winning ways in their next trip on the road.
"One defeat doesn't make a season, just like one win doesn't, and we look forward to Tuesday to try and get back on it," he said after the game. "I can take positives from everything, and I won't be in a desperate state after this defeat. What a position we're in right now, with some big games coming up, and we look forward to them.
"We're never too down, never too up, and we know what we need to do better on Tuesday. I can never fault the work rate or the passion of these boys, but the quality was lacking on Saturday."
Games come thick and fast as a result of the Chairboys' excellent cup exploits and Ainsworth says those adventures must be put to the back of his players' minds as they approach these remaining league matches.
"I do everything I can to prepare the boys mentally and we have to leave those cup memories behind for now," he said. "We need to concentrate on the league and that's our big focus now. We've been brought back down to earth with a wallop, but we'd had a fantastic run and now it would be nice to start another one."
