Gareth Ainsworth says Friday’s game at Coventry has all the ingredients for a Christmas cracker as two of the top seven hopefuls go head-to-head at the Ricoh Arena.
The Chairboys travel to the home of the Sky Blues on the back of a battling 1-0 win over Chesterfield which made it five consecutive home victories.
Now back on the road, the gaffer is hoping for some more festive cheer for the travelling Chairboys army against one of the league’s big-hitters.
Previewing the clash, Ainsworth said: “Friday will be a different game to the one which saw us face Coventry in the Checkatrade Trophy semi-final last season.
“We have a much-changed squad going up there and it is going to be a highly-charged game with both teams in and around the play-offs.
“Coventry are a team that is expected to be up there and they have been making noises that they want to go back up at the first time of asking.
“We go there on the back of some good home form and having stopped the rot away from home at Stevenage we want to build on that.
“Coming back with Coventry with anything I believe is a good result when you take into consideration the size of the club and look at some of the results they have picked up so far this season.
“We are aiming not to get beat, but we also want to try and get all three points and we believe we can do that.”
