CMS seeking joy from festive fixtures

Striker previews Chesterfield.

15 December 2017

Craig Mackail-Smith is confident that if the Chairboys can show the same form they have produced in recent home fixtures, then they can get the result they want against Chesterfield at Adams Park on Saturday.

The Blues welcome a Chesterfield side very much in-form themselves, with no defeats in their last six league outings in Sky Bet League Two, so it should make for a good game for the Wanderers faithful in the last home fixture before Christmas.

CMS, who has seven goals for the Chairboys since signing in the summer, is hoping that a good festive period for Wanderers will propel them further up the table and set them up for a promising second half of the season.

Looking back over his first four months at the club, the striker said: “I’m really enjoying my time here.

“I get on really well with all the boys, and I’m really comfortable with our style of play and how the gaffer wants us to play.

“Obviously playing off Bayo I feel we have got a good little partnership going now, I feel I know when he flicks the ball where I need to be and hopefully we can score a lot more goals between now and the end of the season.

“So I’m really enjoying it, I was hoping I would have a few more goals but hopefully by the other side of Christmas I can be at the 10+ mark and we can kick on for the second half of the season.”

Jack Lester brings his Spireites side to Adams Park with them very much at the top end of the form table, and Mackail-Smith and the players know they will be have to be on it from minute one if they are to kick-off the football festivities with a win.

“You can’t take any game lightly in this division, and we will have to prepare properly and be ready for this one as Chesterfield are on a good run.

“We are doing well at home at this moment in time, and I’m hopeful that if we can take the form we’ve got into that game then hopefully we should get the result that we want.

“The Christmas period is an interesting on with the games coming thick and fast, so we’ll be doing all we can to make sure we are ready for every game.

“This is a big important time because if we can take a good amount of points in those games, it pushes us closer and closer to those top three spots which is where we want to be.”
