Wycombe Wanderers vs Lincoln City
Saturday 5th August 2017, k.o. 3pm
Referee: Graham Horwood
Got that familiar feeling running through your veins? That'll be the buzz of a matchday, back again after a long and lonely summer away from Adams Park. The wait is nearly over, and it all gets underway again on what looks like being a bright, sunny afternoon at Adams Park on Saturday.
Gareth Ainsworth's Chairboys are in the position of looking to continue the progress they made last season, in which they embarked on their longest ever unbeaten run in the EFL, enjoyed two cup adventures and finished narrowly outside the play-offs after a strong finish.
Therefore it's been business as usual during their pre-season campaign, with Adam El-Abd and Nathan Tyson bolstering an already-strong squad looking to go one better than in the 2016/17 campaign.
On day one they come up against last year's National League champions Lincoln City, returning to the EFL after a six-year absence, and they're not prepared to settle for just survival. Boss Danny Cowley has been able to re-invest a good proportion of their prize money from last year's incredible FA Cup run, making 10 new signings including seasoned professionals at league level including Michael Bostwick, Matt Green and Neal Eardley.
Gareth Ainsworth will make late decisions on the inclusion of Anthony Stewart and Scott Kashket after the pair spent part of pre-season requiring injury treatment. Adam El-Abd and QPR loanee Jack Williams are available for their debuts, as is Nathan Tyson, who could make his second Wanderers bow some 14 years after his first.
Lincoln team news to follow.
Man in the middle
Graham Horwood took charge of three games at Adams Park last season; the 1-0 win over Stevenage, the 2-1 victory against Doncaster, and the 2-0 loss to Barnet. Overall he showed 113 yellow and six red cards in his 31 matches.
Chairboys fans can benefit from a £2 discount when they book before 5pm on Friday; click here for all the details including prices and how to book. Phone lines open from 10am on the day of the game, while tickets can be bought on arrival from Ticket Office 1 and 2 (both open at noon).
Contrary to earlier reports, Lincoln have not sold their full 1,800 allocation, with around 400 remaining at the close of play on Thursday. Imps fans must buy in advance via their own club's ticket office, as no tickets will be available for away fans on the day of the game.
Fans looking to buy tickets for next week's game at Port Vale should do so from the shop after the final whistle; they will not be available before kick-off in order to reduce queues on what could be a busy afternoon.
