Wycombe Wanderers vs Bristol Rovers
Tuesday 29th August 2017, k.o. 7.45pm
Referee: James Linington
Following victories in the league for both sides at the weekend, it’s time for some Checkatrade Trophy action at Adams Park in the first of three group stage matches.
West Ham U23s have already beaten Swindon to take their place at the top of Southern Group C, and Wanderers will hope to follow suit as they aim for another successful run in the competition, having reached the semi-final last time around.
Rovers didn’t win any of their three group games last season so boss Darrell Clarke will eye improvements, although both sides are likely to make changes to their regular league XIs in the name of squad rotation.
If scores are level after 90 minutes, there’ll be a penalty shootout in the ABBA format to determine which side earns an extra point.
Gareth Ainsworth could hand a debut to new loan signing Josh Umerah, having acquired the striker from Charlton Athletic.
Man in the middle
It’s been two years since James Linington was last in charge of a Wanderers fixture – a 1-1 draw at Leyton Orient – and he’s officiated five matches so far this campaign, showing 25 yellow and no red cards in total.
Tickets cost £10 for adults and £5 for juniors (18 and under), and home fans can purchase on arrival, though it’s all-ticket for Pirates fans which means they must have bought a ticket through their club in advance.
You can travel to the game by bus thanks to the Arriva service.
