Gareth Ainsworth can't wait to get up and running as the Sky Bet League Two season kicks off this weekend.
Wanderers welcome league newcomers Lincoln City to Adams Park on Saturday (k.o. 3pm), with a carnival atmosphere expected from both ends of the ground.
Wanderers finished a positive pre-season with two wins, two draws and a 1-0 defeat which came last Friday at Maidenhead United, which Gareth said was a good lesson for his players to have in the build-up to the campaign.
Now the pre-season friendlies are out the way, the final preparations are underway and the Wycombe boss can't wait to get cracking.
"I've always said that a defeat in pre-season is not always the worst thing," Ainsworth said reflecting on the game vs Maidenhead.
"I was pleased with the workout and no injuries was the main thing.
"It will be interesting this week to see what we do, I looked at Lincoln City against Walsall and I'm sure that they will be keeping their cards close to their chest as well.
"Come next Saturday it is going to be a great atmosphere with plenty of Lincoln fans coming down with it being their first game back in the Football League, and it's our first game of the season and I'm expecting plenty of Wycombe fans to be there too.
"It means it all on Saturday, it's for real and that is what I am looking forward to. You can sometimes play too many pre-season games with nothing on it, but now the season is back and I'm really looking forward to it."
