The club has released the following statement in relation to an incident between a member of the playing staff and a supporter on Friday 14th April 2017.The incident occurred away from the club's premises but in a public area. Whilst there was strong provocation by the fan, regrettably the player behaved in an unprofessional manner, letting both the club and himself down.
Both parties have subsequently met and whilst there have been apologies to each other and to the club, they also acknowledge that such actions can not be accepted.
The matter has been a poor reflection on the fan-owned and family-focused club and actions will be taken against both parties.
Club chairman Andrew Howard said: “Football is a highly emotional game both on and off the field but that does not mean that players and fans alike can operate outside legal or moral laws.
"As a club we want passion and commitment but we also want a culture where everyone feels safe - this is the priority at our club.”
