On Wednesday the club learned the sad news that former player Paul West has passed away.Paul played 110 games scoring six goals between 1980 & 84 including 20 appearances in the Isthmian League title-winning team of 1983.
He joined Wycombe from Flackwell Heath under the management team of Mike Keen and Alan Davies. On leaving Loakes Park he signed for Hillingdon Borough - then managed by Davies - before later reuniting with Keen at Marlow. He later returned to play for and then manage Flackwell Heath. Paul's father Norman also played for Wycombe in the 50's, being the first licensee of the newly built pub "The Happy Wanderer".
Former Wycombe captain and team-mate Bob Dell said of Paul "He was a wing back, fiery, quick, strong, tricky and had a hard hitting right foot shot on him. He loved his football, whether it was training (he was a really good trainer) or playing games and then socialising and having a beer at the club afterwards".
Our thoughts are with Paul’s friends and family.
