McCarthy and Harriman looking to win it for the fans

6 May 2016

Jason McCarthy and Michael Harriman are both aiming to end the season on a high as Wycombe make the short trip to Oxford United for the final game of the season.

The right-sided duo are keen to take all three points from their rivals and dent the U's promotion challenge at the Kassam Stadium.

Jason scored the winner when the two sides met in December, securing a 2-1 victory, and he is looking to repeat his heroics tomorrow.

He said: "I'll be doing my best in and around the box to try and get a goal, but it would be the perfect send off to spoil the party. We're expecting a good atmosphere and last time out was pretty special and we'll be looking to do the same again.

"Oxford have had a good season, credit to them. Them and Portsmouth are probably the hardest teams we've played this season, but on our day we can beat anyone.

"We've had a good week training, we've got a game plan to stop them and we'll be doing everything we can to spoil the party and I'm confident we will."

The two sides have the joint best defensive records in the league, having conceded 41 goals over 45 games, and Michael is hoping that Wycombe will come out on top.

He said: "We beat them at home and there is no reason we can't beat them at their place. They haven't got the greatest home record so we'll go there with smiles on our faces and see what we can come out with.

"One team will finish with the best record and hopefully that will be us. We will go out there and do a professional job and see where we are at the end of the game."

Tomorrow's game is the final match of Jason's loan spell from Southampton, and he had high praise for the club's supporters for welcoming him as one of their own.

He said: "I absolutely love Wycombe and I'm forever a fan now. When I go back I will be looking for Wycombe's results and checking up on them and I've got a rapport with the fans.

"They've been class from the moment I came in and made me feel really welcome and thank you for giving me an unforgettable season."
