Gareth Ainsworth has rewarded trialist Nick Freeman with a one-year contract after the midfielder impressed in pre-season training and friendly matches. The 20-year-old arrived at Adams Park at the start of July, bringing with him an impressive record in non-league with Histon both at youth and senior level, and caught the manager’s eye with stand-out performances in the games against Le Havre and Brentford.
Nick's signing was announced on the pitch just before kick-off in the pre-season friendly with QPR, where he featured as a second-half substitute.
Ainsworth said: “Nick has taken his chance with both hands and I’ve been really impressed with the way he’s worked hard, settled in quickly with the lads and shown what he can do on the pitch.
“His attitude has been second-to-none and he has a real hunger to make it as a professional footballer. He’s far from the finished product but I’m looking forward to working with him and helping to develop his talent to see how far he can go in the game.”
