Wycombe travel to Plymouth looking to get back on track in Sky Bet League 2 following defeat to Leyton Orient last time out.The Chairboys have happy memories of Home Park, the scene of a famous play-off semi-final first leg win last season, and Luke O’Nien and Marcus Bean will be hoping to use that as inspiration for tomorrow’s game (3pm k.o.).
“Everyone is looking forward to it,” Luke said. “We have had a good week at work. We’ve put the FA Cup run behind us, we enjoyed our journey but it’s time to focus on the league.
“I remember watching it [the semi-final] on Sky and Wycombe were 3-0 up, then I left the room and came back and it was 3-2!”
Beany has good memories of the match, despite having to fill in at right back.
“It was something I hadn’t done before but leading up to it I played a few games at right back and felt I did alright. It was obviously a great two legs for the club and hopefully moving forward we can aspire to the same sort of thing this season.”
Devon has been a happy hunting ground for Wycombe in the past, with the Blues winning 10 of the previous 11 visits, but it is something Luke is not paying too much attention to.
He said: “We would like to carry that record on, but the stats don’t matter when the whistle goes. It’s two teams fighting for the points and we are going to give it our all.
“We’ll go as underdogs, Plymouth will be favourites. We’ve been working hard on what we do best this week, we’ll give it our all and hopefully when the final whistle goes we’ll be on top with a good result.”
Marcus is desperate to make his mark after coming back into the matchday squad in recent weeks following injury and had praise for those who have taken advantage of their chance.
He said: “It’s always frustrating being injured but in my absence the boys have done well in my position and I am desperate to get on the pitch.
“It’s all about being right, physically fit and mentally prepared to step in and take the opportunity when it comes. Blooms and Luke have done well in there and it is about when my chance does come to take it.”
