Report: Millwall 1-3 Wycombe

Wanderers progressed to the last 16 of the Checkatrade Trophy with their sixth consecutive victory in all competitions - their best run of wins in over a decade.

League 1 Millwall were swept aside in a dramatic second half after both defences came out on top in the first period, with the Chairboys handing a debut to centre-back Max Muller alongside Will De Havilland.

The breakthrough came from the penalty spot when Stephen McGinn was tugged back when getting his shot away, and Adebayo Akinfenwa sent the keeper the wrong way for his fifth goal of the season.

Millwall were level almost straightaway when David Worrall's near-post cross-shot deceived Jamal Blackman and found the net, but Blackman turned hero when he parried away Fred Onyedinma's penalty after the striker was adjudged to have been fouled by Aaron Pierre.

With the game looking likely to be settled by a penalty shoot-out, Garry Thompson rifled home to make it 2-1 and added his second in stoppage time, converting Scott Kashket's unselfish square pass.
