WWSET launch Girls Elite Development Academy

4 August 2016

Wycombe Wanderers Sports and Education Trust (WWSET) - the charitable arm of the club - are excited to launch their new Girls Elite Development Academy (EDA).

The EDA, which kicks off in September 2016, exists in order to compliment the coaching that players receive from the junior football clubs they play for, and to give every child who attends the best opportunity of reaching their full potential and playing at the highest possible level.

Over the years, the current male EDA has developed a fantastic reputation for producing young talented footballers through the quality of the coaching sessions which run in accordance with the EDA’s football philosophy. This philosophy is based around the encouragement of ‘technical grooving’ through the repetition of challenging and focused practice, as well as the creation of an environment that encourages freedom to express individuality without fear of failure.

The new Girls EDA will be headed up by Lewis Bloom, who recently completed a Masters Degree in Sports Coaching Science, and he had this to say about the new programme:

“Following the success of the boys EDA in recent years, we are very excited to be able to offer a girls alternative going forward. Female football is growing all the time and we wanted to ensure that we are keeping up with this growth and attempting to foster a love for football amongst local girls that will last a lifetime. In addition we want to allow our participants to experience all the other positive aspects that go along with football such as the ability to keep fit and healthy, and the opportunity to enjoy themselves and make new friends.”

WWSET are holding three taster sessions throughout August in which girls from the following age groups are invited to attend: U10, U11, U12 and U13’s (season 2016-2017).

The taster sessions will be held at Cressex Astroturf on Wednesday 17th, 24th and 31st August and will be FREE of charge to attend.

If you would like any further information about the girls programme, or to register a place on any or all of the taster sessions, please do not hesitate to get in contact through means of email: or call 01494455736.
