Ugwu looking for positive final home performance

29 April 2016

Gozie Ugwu is aiming to end the season on a high as Wycombe welcome promotion chasing Accrington to Adams Park tomorrow.

Wanderers are out of the play-off reckoning but can still have a big say in the automatic promotion spots, as Stanley could seal their spot in League One next year if results go their way.

Gozie is determined though to make sure the Chairboys put in a performance for the fans in the final home game of the season.

He said: "We have all discussed it as a team with the remaining games to all put it in, no matter where we end, and to end it on a high. We are looking to put in a performance for the fans - they deserve it."

The reverse fixture was only played last month after being rained off earlier in the season, with the two sides playing out a 1-1 draw.

Gozie had a big influence in that match as his substitute appearance sparked a Wycombe fightback to snatch a point.

He said: "We had a good game against them last time, and we should have probably got all three points there. We will be preparing for them on Saturday to end the season on a high and put all our efforts in to every game remaining.

"I remember we played well and did quite well, but each game is different and this Saturday we will be looking to put in a performance."

With the season coming to a close, the end of season dinner will be held on Sunday and thoughts in the dressing room are not on who will pick up each award.

Gozie said: "There isn't too much talk bout awards, more about the clobber people will be wearing! Some people are already putting their cards down on Sido to make an appearance, but everyone is in high spirits and looking to end the season on a high.

"Everyone's dress sense is pretty safe, I have seen Sido in a couple of suspicious outfits but that is just his personality - we are all looking forward to it."
