Recommended road directions
Take the A404 south, leading to the A404(M) and the westbound M4. Exit motorway at J11 and take the A33 towards Basingstoke. Follow signs for the M3 into the Basingstoke Ring Road. Join the M3 signposted Southampton. Merge onto the M27. Go along the M27 (ignoring the M275 turn off for Portsmouth town centre) and continue on to the A27. At the junction with the A2030 turn right towards Southsea/Fratton and just continue straight along the A2030 and eventually you will see the ground in front of you, just slightly to your left.
However beware of roadworks both ways along the A33; an alternative route is to take the B3349 and join the M3 at Hook.
Mileage from High Wycombe = 87
Recommended area for car parking
The large car park at the ground is for home fans only, so it’s a case of street parking. One good area is the side streets found on the right hand side of the A2030 before you reach the “Good Companion” pub. There is a large car park (£5 per car) on the corner of Velder Avenue and Milton Road – this is just a couple of minutes’ walk from the away end.
Travelling by coach?
OWWSA will be running a coach that will leave Adams Park at 11.00. Travel prices are £16 for adults, £15 for seniors, and £14 for juniors. Places cost £3 extra for non-members. If you wish to book by phone (01494 520179) or by e-mail (email@example.com) you need to do so by Thursday April 21st at 17.00 hrs.
Using the train?
The nearest local train station is Fratton, which is a ten minute walk away. Portsmouth train station is at least a 25 minute walk away. Fratton is served by trains from London Waterloo and London Victoria. Waterloo offers the best service, fastest journey times being 1 hour 24 minutes. There are several trains per hour. From Fratton station, exit via the footbridge and turn left onto Goldsmith Avenue. Continue for about half a mile and Frogmore Road is on the left. Fratton Park is situated at the bottom of the road.
Facilities for away fans
The ground capacity is 20,700 (all seated). Away fans are housed on one side of the Milton End (on the North Stand side) where the normal allocation is 2,000. Although this end now benefits from having cover, the facilities are pretty basic and the leg room tight, as this stand was a former terrace. There are also some supporting pillars along the front of the stand that may impede you view. Entrance to the stand is gained by inserting your ticket into a bar code reader.
Facilities around the ground
The “Good Companion” PH can be found on the main A2030 about a five minute walk away. This is a large pub serving real ales and had a good mix of home and away support. Other hostelries coming recommended are “The Harvester” and “The Brewers Arms” but away fans are advised to avoid “The Milton Arms” and “The Newcome Arms”. A bit further away, on Fawcett Road close to Fratton Station, is “The Red, White and Blue” that also comes recommended. There are plenty of take-aways (of all varieties) along this road.
