Sam Saunders and Nico Yennaris will remain at Adams Park until the end of the season after the club secured an extension to the pair’s loan deals from Championship side Brentford. The duo arrived on an initial month’s loan at the end of February and have excelled in the light and dark blue quarters, with 21-year-old Yennaris featuring both in central midfield and the right-back slot in his five appearances so far.
Manager Gareth Ainsworth said: “Sam and Nico have slotted in brilliantly, as we knew they would, and it’s great to have them with us for the remainder of the season.
“We see them as being an important part of a squad which is fully focused on winning promotion and I’d like to thank Brentford once again for allowing us to keep them.”
Brentford boss Mark Warburton said: “I am delighted with how the loan is going for all parties. The feedback from Gareth Ainsworth has been extremely positive about both players.
“From the players’ perspective, they are getting lots of playing time in a team fighting for promotion. And from our perspective, important squad members are getting valuable match minutes in preparation for any potential recall, for which we have a 24 hour notice period.”
