Wanderers came from behind to secure a 3-1 victory in their first pre-season friendly on UK soil on Tuesday night. Two trialists and new striker Garry Thompson were on target after Elliott Godfrey volleyed home a stunning opener for the hosts, as Gareth Ainsworth's men continued their preparations for the new campaign with a tough workout against the National League South outfit.
After an even start, Wealdstone brought the game to life when former Watford youngster Godfrey lashed home with a first-time shot from outside the box, but the visitors levelled when Aaron Pierre's header rebounded off the post and bounced off a trialist midfielder's body and into the net.
Ainsworth made several changes at half-time and saw his side take the lead when Joe Jacobson beat his man down the left and clipped a clever cross which found its way to a substitute midfielder, who tapped home from close range.
Jacobson was again the architect moments later when he delivered an inch-perfect cross for Garry Thompson to convert with a smart header past the keeper.
Further substitutions helped Wanderers crank up the pressure and they created numerous openings, particularly down the left with Ryan Sellers and Jason Banton seeing plenty of the ball.
Banton came close to adding a fourth when he curled just past the post, before Alex Lynch made a superb reflex save at the other end to prevent Wealdstone from grabbing a late consolation.
