Stuart Lewis has left the club to join Conference South outfit Ebbsfleet United. The 27-year-old was one of Wanderers’ longer-serving players, having joined the club from Dagenham & Redbridge in January 2011 after a successful loan spell, and made a total of 168 appearances, scoring eight times.
However, he has found first-team opportunities hard to come by this season and has made a permanent switch to the Kent club, who are just one point outside the play-off zone in the second tier of non-league football.
Manager Gareth Ainsworth said: “Stu has been a superb servant to this club over the past four years, and we fully respect his wishes to be playing regular first-team football at this stage of his career.
“He was my captain last season and has been an important member of the squad on and off the pitch throughout his time here.
"When the opportunity arose to move to Ebbsfleet, Stu wished to pursue it and after careful consideration, we felt it was best for all parties and wish him every success with his new club.”
Speaking to Ebbsfleet's website, Stu said: "I’ve been at Wycombe for four years but it’s a fresh challenge for me. I’ve had a great time at Wycombe, I’ve captained them, shared some great experiences with the fans and people there and it’s a really good club."
