Jason McCarthy and Aaron Amadi-Holloway are both eager to put in a derby-day performance as Wycombe host Oxford Utd tomorrow (3pm k.o.).The Blues go into the Sky Bet League 2 fixture on the back of a 2-2 draw against 10 man Notts County on Tuesday, and Southampton loanee Jason is looking to build on the positives from the stalemate.
“It was disappointing but it’s still a point at the end of the day,” he said. “Sometimes it’s a lot more difficult to play against 10 men and we had that problem on Tuesday. But we kept going until the end to try and get the three points. The performance was OK so we are looking to build on that on Saturday which is a big game for the club.
“I’ve heard a lot about the derby, the boys have made it known to me what it’s like. I really like games like that – I got some stick when we played Portsmouth – so I’m expecting much of the same. I’m looking forward to a good atmosphere at Adams Park and I can’t wait.”
Aaron found the next in the corresponding fixture last year, and is hoping for more of the same this time out.
“I came off the bench to score that goal and that was good for me – it’s always good to come off the bench and grab a goal if you can.
“Hopefully if I get another start I can nick another goal. It’s going to be a good crowd as it is a derby. I think most players play better when the pressure is on – there are more fans and there’s more at stake – and I think I’m one of those players.”
