Gareth Ainsworth has made a move into the loan market to bring Aston Villa defender Janoi Donacien to the club on a one-month deal. The 21-year-old played his first ever senior game for the Premier League side at Adams Park in a pre-season friendly in July 2013 and made 37 appearances in Sky Bet League 2 last season for Tranmere Rovers.
Donacien moved to the UK from Saint Lucia in 2001 and started out at youth level with Luton Town and Tottenham Hotspur before moving to Villa, where he was part of the teams that won the Premier League Reserve South and NextGen Series.
Ainsworth said: “Janoi is an excellent young prospect and a very talented defender who has already had good experience of playing at this level, so first-team football won’t faze him at all.
“Injuries to Anthony Stewart and Danny Rowe in the last couple of weeks have really stretched the squad defensively and Janoi will be a big help to us over the coming month.
“We’ve very grateful to Aston Villa and in particular their Player Loan Manager Tommy Mooney, who is a former Wycombe striker, for enabling us to bring Janoi to the club. We have an excellent relationship with Villa and look forward to working with one of their young stars to help develop his game during his time here.”
Janoi goes straight into the squad for the visit of Dagenham & Redbridge to Adams Park on Saturday, and will wear number 22. His loan deal runs until Saturday 19th September inclusive.
